At what barrel length...

At what barrel length does a .22 reach maximum velocity? I've heard everything from 20 inches to 22.

I have the 22" Ruger 10/22 in stainless, hopefully this gets the most pop.

probably 18-20 inches...

CCI Stinger and other high speed 22 might benefit with a little longer barrel I would guess...say, up to 26-28 inch but the rifle gets a little cumbersome at that length...

If you are really interested, maybe someone over at rimfire central has some chronograph results...
